We live in uncertain and strange times.
The world is loud, chaotic, and moves too fast. Our senses are constantly overstimulated. This saturation of information has made us insatiable. Our generation seems to have the world in the palm of its hand, but we can't shake the feeling of constant voidness. We are on a constant search for short-term dopamine to distract us from our thoughts. Our perception of reality has been affected, and we can start to lose the line between what is real and what is not.
Distant Reality is born of the need for freedom and liberation of that feeling of stand-by. The project is divided into three parts, a series of art pieces featured in the film, a photographic editorial, and a fashion film where we follow the main character on a journey through the corners of his mind.
MEMORIAS
Anlag family slides and ceramics lamp. “Memorias” is an exceptional piece, since it contains some of my family memories dating back to the 60’s to early 2000s. It’s meant to represent a nostalgic window to our memories, which is our mind’s projections of the past.
DESDE DENTRO
Handmade tul embroidered dress. This piece talks about being exposed and vulnerable. To be transparent and let the world see our true selves.
KINTSUGI
The ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi consists of repairing broken objects with gold, things that otherwise would be thrown away. With this technique instead of rejecting the imperfections and scratches, they are embraced and highlighted.
In collaboration with the stylist Luna Eizaguirre, this piece wants to portray the same values that Kintsugi represents to us as people. To take our imperfections, scars, and marks that are left by the passing of time and accept their beauty.
We all are a whole of our broken pieces.
